SUMMARY:Australian Islet Study Group Meeting 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Australian Islet Study Group (AISG) Meeting is the premier meeting for researchers interested in all aspects of islet and beta cell function; including secretion pathway mechanisms\, islet structure and function\, morphology\, in vitro and in vivo models\, omics and big data considerations. We invite you to attend this exciting annual meeting discussing islet biology as it relates to clinical situations including diabetes and challenges in islet transplantation. The AISG Meeting 2024 will take place on Wednesday\, 15th & Thursday\, 16th May 2024 at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research in Westmead\, NSW. \nClick here for the program.\nClick here to register for the event. \nFull registration: A$190.00 (GST included)\nStudent registration: A$90.00 (GST included) \n\nSpeakers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKeynote Speaker\nProfessor Lori Sussel\nLori Sussel is the Research Director of the Barbara Davis Diabetes Center (BDC) and Director of the NIDDK-funded University of Colorado Diabetes Research Center. She received her graduate degree from Columbia University Medical School and pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California\, San Francisco. Her research program involves two major areas of study. One aspect of her research is to understand the biology underlying pancreatic islet cell development and function. These studies have contributed to the ability to grow human islet cells in a dish for cell replacement therapy in type 1 diabetes (T1D). The second aspect of her research is to understand why the immune system targets the insulin producing beta cells within the pancreas with hopes that this knowledge will help prevent disease initiation or protect the beta cells after disease onset. As BDC Research Director\, Professor Sussel has also established an internationally recognised interdisciplinary research division focusing on all aspects of T1D research and discovery.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nProgram\n \nClick to view the program. \n\n   The ADS gratefully acknowledges the support from Lilly and Sanofi for this educational event.

SUMMARY:ADS/ADEA Australasian Diabetes Congress (ADC)
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to host the Australasian Diabetes Congress at the Adelaide Convention and Exhibition Centre\, August 23 – 25\, 2023. The program organising committees of both societies have collaboratively developed an integrated program that will cover the latest breakthroughs in research\, education and clinical care in diabetes. We have engaged outstanding international and national speakers with whom you will be able to network to exchange opinions and discuss how to best care for the person living with diabetes. \nWe are excited to return to face-to-face events with opportunities to see old colleagues\, meet new ones and connect again with our industry partners in the exhibition hall. We are conscious that cost is a consideration for attending conferences and providing a virtual option would significantly increase the registration fee. Therefore\, this year’s Congress will be an in-person only event with no virtual attendance option. \nIn addition\, the Australian Diabetes Society will be celebrating its 50th anniversary\, which we are very excited about! \nWe look forward to seeing you in person in Adelaide in August\, 2023.
